Things can change quickly, and unexpectedly, when travelling. Such as the rainy season arriving early.
The weather in Hoi An had been hot and humid. Days of sunshine. Early morning adventures, long siestas, afternoons by the pool, re-emerging when darkness fell. Even so, just a few minutes outside and I was drenched in sweat.

On our last day, clouds began gathering around lunch time, and by the evening the rain began to fall. As the wind grew in strength the windows rattled, and most of the guests hunkered down in the bar, waiting for the rain to lighten so as to head off into town. I just wanted to get to my room without being drenched!
But the rain kept falling, and I got to practice my french with a few of the guests.

During the night the rain fell heavily, and the wind continued to rise. At times the spray from the ocean splashed onto our doors. I woke to find the patch of lawn in front of our villa covered with coconuts and rocks washed up from the ocean.
And this was just the start of the rainy season in Vietnam, a mild storm not rating a mention on the news.
